Oasis: Our Love, Our Summer

With the arrival of the hottest season, Batalha hits the Praça for another edition of Oasis, the open-air film series that marks the close of our annual programme. This year we highlight the birth of love affairs that burn like the summer itself — at times fleeting, at others enduring. Beneath the starry sky, over seven nights of cinema we pass through various locations, eras and styles of loving: from steamy nights at the Kit Kat Club in Cabaret to the happy chaos of Monsoon Wedding, via the intense and destructive passion of The Lovers on the Bridge, the devastating tragedy of Romeo + Juliet, the tricky love triangle of The Philadelphia Story, the zombie romance of Atlantique and, finally, the teenage nostalgia of American Graffiti. As stars and seagulls cross our view, each story will prove that, however long it may last, when we’re in love it’s always summer.
