Kuroneko

Kuroneko is a poetic horror tale set in war-torn feudal Japan. After being raped and murdered by a group of samurai, a woman and her daughter-in-law return as vengeful spirits, thanks to the power of a black cat, luring warriors into a trap by the Rajomon gate. When a war hero is sent to eliminate the threat, he is confronted by supernatural forces and his own inner conflicts. Inspired by Japanese folklore, the film combines macabre fantasy, social commentary and a feminist perspective, exploring violence, desire and guilt through stunning black-and-white cinematography.
