Directed by George Lucas, produced by Francis Ford Coppola and nominated for five Oscars, this coming-of-age classic follows the adventures of four teenagers in Southern California, in 1962, on the last night of summer before they go to university. Replete with drive-ins, rock’n’roll thrills and drag racing, the film captures adolescent rites of passage, as well as the period of transition in American culture before the escalation of the Vietnam War. The cast includes Harrison Ford, Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard and Charles Martin Smith.
