After Life

In a modest reception centre that serves as a limbo, a team of counsellors welcomes groups of the recently deceased and asks them to choose their happiest memory. That memory is then recreated on film and will accompany each person into eternity, whilst their other memories fade away. Over the course of a week, a group of people of different ages revisits loves, losses, regrets and small joys. A sensitive meditation on what gives meaning to human existence—and cinema’s ability to preserve and give shape to these experiences.
