Raw Rhythms, Cecilia Bengolea

Raw Rhythms marks Cecilia Bengolea’s first exhibition in Porto and Vila do Conde. Conceived during a residency in Vila do Conde between April and May 2026, this exhibition is the result of a partnership with Solar — Galeria de Arte Cinemática and the Circular Festival.

Based on research into the preservation of archaic dances and traditional crafts linked to maritime work, the project delves into the cultural heritage of the Atlantic coast of northern Portugal. Through landscape, gesture and ritual, Bengolea explores knowledge and practices passed down from generation to generation, examining the relationship between tradition, memory and identity.
