Queer Porto

Queer Porto presents its 12th edition, bringing some of the latest queer cinema to the city for its national premiere. In line with the themes addressed by this vast cinematic genre, this year’s programme explores the place of LGBTQIA+ people and communities in the world, individual stories of love, self-affirmation and self-discovery, as well as chapters in the recent history of this constantly reinventing community. The Official Competition will showcase feature-length fiction films and documentaries that have premiered at major international festivals, whilst the Portuguese Short Film Competition once again reflects the vigour of queer aesthetics and narratives from new generations of filmmakers. Through a selection of new documentaries, the Queer Resistance section travels the world to offer an intimate look at phenomena and people who have made resistance their way of life, whilst the Queer Focus section is dedicated to writers whose biographies and works form part of the queer culture we celebrate here.
