As an intermediate place of encounters and transformation, the beach traces a shared zone between the terrestrial and the aquatic that produces a space of experience between surfaces, depths and different environmental relationships and dimensions. Under the sign of a movement marked by the attraction of the moon and the sun, O Fogo da Praia brings together a set of films that assimilate and manifest various landscapes, gestures and fluid rhythms related to the beach. Affirming its relational, geophysical, historical, mythical and imaginative properties, the exhibition is particularly concerned with building links between people, communities, humans and non-humans in the context of a period of ecological, humanitarian and political emergency. Following an invitation from Batalha to curator Sara Castelo Branco — and in dialogue with the open-air cinema programme Oasis 3: A Place in the Sun — O Fogo da Praia offers an immersive tour of various spaces in the Cinema Centre.
