O Fogo da Praia

As an intermediate place of encounter and transformation, the beach creates a shared zone between the terrestrial and the aquatic, producing spaces of coexistence between surfaces, depths and environments. Inspired by these plural forms of interaction, O Fogo da Praia — a project commissioned by Batalha and curated by Sara Castelo Branco — brings together a set of films that express diverse fluid landscapes, gestures and rhythms related to the beach. Affirming its geophysical, oneiric, historical, mythical and imaginative properties, this exhibition, which runs through various spaces in the Film Centre, specifically departs from the creation of bonds between communities in a period of ecological, humanitarian and political emergency.
