Focusing on Noémia Delgado's personal archive—donated to the Cinemateca Portuguesa after her death—this exhibition traces the Portuguese director's non-linear career, revealing the multidisciplinary vision of the author of the iconic documentary Máscaras (1976). Between Foyers 1 and 2 of Batalha, the exhibition presented by the Cinemateca Portuguesa-Museu do Cinema in 2024 is reconfigured, revealing an intimate dimension of the artist through her drawings—a practice to which she devoted herself throughout her life—as well as her chronicles, correspondence, and poetry. The exhibition pays special attention to her cinematographic practice, an art form that Delgado cherished most and which also became her greatest challenge, so often marked by institutional abandonment: the ideas on paper, for so many projects that never materialised on film, are unveiled here, helping to reaffirm her relevance in the history of Portuguese cinema.
