Matías Piñeiro

One of Argentina’s most influential contemporary filmmakers, Matías Piñeiro has distinguished himself for the way he weaves together classical literature and the urban daily lives of young adults in his country, exploring the tensions between desire and loneliness.

Known for his free adaptations of Shakespeare—collected under the title Las Shakespeariadas—he creates films in which the interplay between words and gestures becomes a space for invention and freedom. With his latest film, Tú me abrasas, Piñeiro expands his universe to include new literary references, continuing to explore the boundaries between theater, literature, and cinema with formal and emotional curiosity.

A regular presence at some of the most prominent international festivals, he has established himself as one of the most inventive voices of his generation, with a practice characterized by a distinctive language and playful energy.

In October, we will screen a selection of his works, accompanied by a masterclass and the launch of the most comprehensive monograph dedicated to the filmmaker, co-published with Fireflies Press.
