On this New Moon, we welcome Joana Patrão and Carla Andrade for a screening that engages thematically with the Telúricas chapter of the Seleção Nacional programme, organized in partnership with the Cineteca Madrid.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a Master’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto, Carla Andrade, an artist dedicated to photography and the moving image, earned a bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Salamanca and a master’s degree in Artists’ Film & Moving Image from Goldsmiths, University of London. She is currently pursuing studies in Philosophy. Her artistic practice explores landscape, nature, and the limits of perception.
Joana Patrão’s practice—she holds a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a master’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto—focuses on the study of landscape, understood simultaneously as a symptom of conflict and a potential process of reconciliation. Her work explores the elemental nature of natural matter and the various interactions between the body and time (geological, biological, and technological).
At Batalha, we present a selection of the artists’ work, bringing together two practices that engage in a dialogue centred on a shared sensibility and a telluric materiality.
