Goshogaoka, Sharon Lockart

Filmed in a suburban gym in Japan, Goshogaoka follows the daily routine of a women’s basketball team. In six fixed shots of ten minutes each, the camera captures voices, gestures and choreographed movements, transforming simple training sessions into studies in image and sound. In the absence of competition or instructions from coaches, the focus shifts to individuality and cooperation within the group, revealing the existence of both shyness and social ease. A film that celebrates the value of documenting, with a carefully observed, contemplative aesthetic.
