They didn’t know each other and hadn’t planned anything. A microphone, a tape recorder, and eight reels brought them together. Pedro Laranjeira (1945–2015), Paulo Coelho, and Adelino Gomes captured the freedom unleashed in the streets by the people, from the dawn of the uprising to the fall of the regime. An audio journey to that first day, experienced as “a movie or a play,” in the reporters’ own words.
