Through three films, we explore the figure of the volcano as both a territory and a mythological and primal force—one associated with destruction, contrasting with human transience and vulnerability. Helena Girón and Samuel Delgado take us into the depths of the La Corona volcanic tube in Lanzarote, where the earth’s interior has become a refuge and a place of resistance; on Pico Island, Francisca Manuel follows a group of women walking in search of a lost figure; Macu Machín, in her first feature-length fiction film, follows three sisters (her mother and aunts) in the Canary Islands, whose daily lives are interwoven with a sense of sisterhood, fear and introspection.
