Videodrome

Cronenberg’s first film to gain support from a major Hollywood studio, this is a hallucinatory journey featuring the head of a pirate television channel broadcasting pornographic and violent content. On coming across a programme mixing sadomasochism, torture and homicide, Renn begins a search for the source of this signal, entering a techno-surrealist spiral that problematises media consumption and its impact on society.
