Up the Junction

An episode in the drama series The Wednesday Play, broadcast by the BBC, Up the Junction follows the lives of three young working-class women in South London. With scenes set at home, in the street, in pubs and in Battersea factories — including documentary images — the episode addresses themes of family, friendship, romance, sex and reproductive rights. On its original broadcast, the BBC received hundreds of complaints about its use of bad language and depiction of abortion.
