Programme:
This screening presents three films that discuss the resistance of bodies and minds to colonization and its legacies. The Question adapts Henri Alleg's testimony, exposing French torture tactics in the Algerian War. In Territories, the Notting Hill Carnival reveals racial tensions and the political power of cultural forms and histories in a divided society. In Dreams Have No Titles, Sedira revisits revolutionary ideals and their cinematic allies to reactivate their promises of emancipation.
Screening followed talk with Olivier Hadouchi and Zineb Sedira — in French with simultaneous translation to Portuguese.
