In the summer of 1990, in a Chile newly freed from dictatorship, a group of teenagers comes of age in a rural commune experimenting with new ways of living. Sofía, Lucas, and Clara navigate their desires, fears, and affections as New Year’s Eve approaches—bringing with it the promise of change. In this delicate coming-of-age film, Dominga Sotomayor captures the transition from childhood to freedom with rare sensitivity. Too Late to Die Young made history by crowning Sotomayor as the first woman ever to win the top prize at the Locarno Film Festival.
