Rasganço

Raquel Freire's first feature film, now presented in a version restored by Cinemateca Portuguesa in collaboration with the director, is set in the city of Coimbra and focuses on academic initiation rituals. The plot focuses on one tradition in particular: on the day they graduate, final-year students are taken to the university cloister, where their academic robes are torn and their capes stolen — items they must then recover. The cast includes Ana Teresa Carvalhosa, Isabel Ruth, Paula Marques, and Ricardo Aibéo.
