Phantom Thread

London in the 1950s. Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis), renowned fashion designer, pours body and soul into his work, assisted by his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville). In this world of rigour and glamour, his routine is interrupted when he meets Alma (Vicky Krieps), a young waitress unbothered by convention who becomes his muse and lover. This intense, ambiguous relationship ends up shaking Woodcock’s carefully maintained posture to the core. A love story built around themes of obsession, control and vulnerability, the film was nominated for six Oscars, winning in the category Best Costume Design.
