Perfect Blue, Satoshi Kon’s first feature film, remains one of his best-known and most influential works, cited by Darren Aronofsky as one of the main inspirations for Black Swan. The film follows Mima, a J-pop idol who gives up music to pursue acting. This change makes some fans feel betrayed, triggering a wave of threats and harassment. At the same time, her inner circle becomes the target of a series of murders. Haunted by guilt and the constant pressure of her career, Mima begins to lose track of the line between reality and fantasy, plunging into a spiral of paranoia.
