In her latest film, Annemarie Jacir explores the events leading up to the 1936 Arab Revolt, a turning point in the history of the Palestinian people. As villages across Mandatory Palestine rise up against British colonial rule, Yusuf finds himself torn between his home and the energy of Jerusalem, longing for a future beyond the growing conflict. However, with increasing numbers of immigrants fleeing anti-Semitism in Europe and the Palestinian population uniting in the largest uprising against 30 years of British occupation, all sides are heading for a collision. A historical drama that remains relevant today.
