The Mutants

Teresa Villaverde's third full-length film The Mutants is a story about a group of kids who wander around a Lisbon that hardly exists anymore. Andreia (Ana Moreira), Pedro (Alexandre Pinto), and Ricardo (Nelson Varela) are survivors of dysfunctional homes who find a sense of community in their friendship. Like the children in William Golding's Lord of the Flies, or the young people in Larry Clark's Kids, they abruptly enter adulthood.
