In Nome, the iconic Sana Na N'hada - considered the first director in the history of Guinean cinema - revisits the memory of the Colonial War and his youth in the resistance against the Portuguese army. In a fiction that is interwoven with archive footage captured by the filmmaker and his comrades, the film marks the 50th anniversary of the colonies' independence, reflecting on the scars of the past and their impact on the present. Premiered at Cannes in the ACID parallel section, Nome has been widely recognised at international festivals for its poetic, symbolic and historical approach.
