Diego (Nacho Martinez), a famous ex-bullfighter forced to retire following an accident, now dedicates his time to teaching bullfighting in a school. Seeking to relive the adrenaline of the arena, he pursues sexual pleasure in slasher films and murdering women during sex. Maria (Assumpta Serna), a lawyer and fan of Diego’s, shares his fetish. When the two meet, they fall into a spiral of obsessive passion guided by lust, abuse and violence. In this psychological thriller, Almodóvar uses humour to reflect on our most primitive human instincts.
