Programme:
Batalha presents a new film marathon: a challenge as radical as the previous one, designed for die-hard film buffs. This time, the challenge focuses on films that take place over the course of a day (or less). Some of these stories unfold in real time: the film's time is synchronised with the time in the cinema. Others condense only the part of the day they are representing.
This journey through time begins with Lover's Rock, part of Steve McQueen's Small Axe anthology, and continues for over 16 hours, through different times, geographies and states of mind. The marathon covers a day in the lives of the characters in Lizzie Borden and Ousmane Sembène, the afternoon marked by the domestic quietude of Duck Season and the feverish and unsettling nights of Escape from New York and After Hours.
Between Pasolini's satire, Hitchcock's suspense and Sahand Kabiri's challenging Tehran, a journey is mapped out that spans decades, continents and languages, culminating the following morning with the irreverence of The Breakfast Club and the morning laziness of Chantal Akerman.
There will be a single ticket and, for those who complete the challenge by following all the rules, a prize: the BFF Card, valid for six months, which offers access to Batalha screenings—a reward worthy of cinephile dedication.
