The careers of the animation directors Alexandra Ramires and Laura Gonçalves intertwined at an early stage - when they were both studying at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon. They have jointly participated in projects by other artists over the years. In 2011, they joined the independent studio BAP Animation Studio, in Porto. Since then, they have worked on their acclaimed and award-winning individual works, culminating in the co-direction of Água Mole, that was selected for Cannes in 2017.

Their films are often based on true family stories, using an intimate documentary style, which portrays themes such as rural exodus, old age and memory.

This third New Moon includes short films directed or co-directed by the duo. The works are technically and thematically highly different, but are all aligned with the same perspective of artistic creation, which focuses on making time for others, caring and the power of adaptation and union.
