Programme:
The playwright Jean Anouilh’s directorial debut, The Traveller Without Luggage, is a film adaptation of his play of the same name. The story follows Gaston, a man found suffering from amnesia at the end of the First World War and cared for in an asylum for ten years. When several families claim him as a missing relative, he finds himself confronted with a past he does not recognize as his own. Among them is the Renaud family, whose account of the young Gaston reveals a violent and unscrupulous personality. As he recovers fragments of his memory, he realizes that it might be better to abandon his former identity and reinvent himself.
