We open our Jane Birkin retrospective with the film that provided her first big role. Alongside Alain Delon, Romy Schneider and Maurice Ronet, Jane Birkin features in this acclaimed psychological thriller in which jealousy, seduction and transgression meet in the heat of the French Riviera. On holiday in their sumptuous house in Saint-Tropez, the couple Jean-Paul and Marianne see the tranquillity of their summer days interrupted by the arrival of two visitors: Harry, an ex-lover of Marianne, and his teenage daughter, Penelope (Birkin). The tension generated by the existing love triangle rises further when Jean-Paul tries to seduce Penelope.
