An innovative machinima documentary set in the virtual world of the game DayZ, Knit’s Island is the result of 963 hours immersed in a 250 km² post-apocalyptic territory. The filmmakers, acting as avatars, interact with a wide range of players—from violent militias to self-declared communities—blurring the lines between virtual and real, game and documentary. The film premiered worldwide at the Visions du Réel festival, where it won the Jury Prize (Burning Lights section) and the prestigious FIPRESCI Award, establishing itself as a provocative reflection on identity, performance, escape, and belonging in digital spaces.
