Mare’s Nest, the latest film by British artist and filmmaker Ben Rivers, co-produced by Batalha, premieres in Portugal both as a theatrical screening and as an installation. Inspired by Don DeLillo’s play The Word for Snow and conceived as a poetic response to climate change, Mare’s Nest unfolds in a parallel future across a fragmented territory shaped by landscapes from the United Kingdom and Spain — at once familiar and eerily displaced. In this world without adults, children live unsupervised, free to imagine and create. Alongside the film, a selection of photographs and scans from the filmmaker’s notebook will also be exhibited. Ben Rivers’ work, which blends documentary, fiction and experimental cinema, has been shown at major festivals and leading institutions worldwide.
Screening followed by talk with the artist. Free entrance upon ticket pickup on the same day. Limited to two tickets per person.
