Nuclear tests awaken a prehistoric creature from its hibernation in the Pacific Ocean, now threatening to destroy Tokyo in its path of fury. It's up to a scientist to decide whether the destruction of this force of nature justifies any means. Godzilla, by Ishirō Honda, is a ferocious indictment of the atomic age and would eventually create a new monster that would enter the lexicon of world pop culture, giving rise to a new genre: the kaiju eiga.
