Falcão Nhaga graduated with a degree in Cinema from Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, where he directed the short film Mistida in 2022, which was selected for La Cinef, the competitive section of the Cannes Film Festival dedicated to student films from around the world. His debut also earned him the Grand Prize for Short Film at Indielisboa and two awards in the Take One! competition at the Curtas Vila do Conde Festival: Best Director and Best Film. The film explores the relationship between an immigrant mother and her son, who reconnect through a dialogue steeped in family memories.

At age 25, the young director won the Grand Prize at the Uppsala Short Film Festival in Sweden with his second film, Sabura, a love story that also addresses the theme of immigration.

At Batalha, we present both works in a screening that offers a close look at issues such as identity, family relationships, and experiences of the diaspora.
