Is there a more iconic line in the history of cinema than “E.T. phone home”? This landmark film by Steven Spielberg, which held the title of highest-grossing movie for a decade, was nominated for nine Academy Awards and won four. In this heartfelt story of intergalactic connection, a gentle alien stranded on Earth is discovered by 10-year-old Elliott, who hides him in his home. As government agents close in on the mysterious visitor, Elliott and his little sister Gertie (a six-year-old Drew Barrymore) try to help their new friend return home—an effort that involves the construction of a makeshift satellite phone like no other.
