In the fractured Berlin of the 1970s, the area around Bahnhof Zoo became the epicenter of a generation in collapse—where youth slipped through dark alleys, lost in drugs and shattered dreams. Based on a true story, Christiane F. follows one young girl’s harrowing descent into addiction and abandonment, consumed by heroin. David Bowie, then living in West Berlin, appears in the film, contributing not only his music but also a voice that echoes the spirit of the city. His Berlin period—marked by albums like Low and Heroes—is a sonic journey through alienation and reinvention, a soundtrack that mirrors the disillusioned youth the film so hauntingly portrays.
