Winner of the Oscar for Best Film and celebrated for its original score composed by Vangelis, Chariots of Fire follows two British athletes training for the Paris Olympics, in 1924. Eric Liddell is a devout Christian who runs for the glory of God. Harold Abrahams, in turn, runs to overcome antisemitism and social prejudice. Based on a true story, the film explores the challenges, sacrifices and choices of these two athletes, showing how belief, ambition and identity clash in a country marked by deep social and religious divides.
