Premiered this year at Cannes, Aquí adapts the Jesus Trilogy by Nobel Prize winner J. M. Coetzee. In a dystopian world, Simón shelters David, a child he meets during a sea crossing to a nameless land. Upon arrival, Inés joins them, and the three form an unusual emotional bond, where the idea of family is reinvented with every gesture. But while society imposes rules and views difference with suspicion, David refuses to be molded and asserts himself as its opposite—embodying imagination and freedom—turning parenthood into an uncertain journey, a quest without answers, where to love is also to accept not understanding.
