Recently rediscovered by the general public, this 90s coming-of-age film follows Rainbow Gold (Victoria Gabrielle Platt), a teenager from Brooklyn, as she grows up facing two totally different models of femininity: her mother, who runs a hairdressing salon and disapproves of her daughter's new found interest in boys; and her free-spirited Aunt Ruby, who has just returned from Paris and whose presence shakes up the family household. A feminist comic drama that tackles sexuality, beauty standards and self-image from a multigenerational perspective. This version is the result of a 4K restoration by the Academy Film Archive and Film Foundation.
