Nominated for 14 Oscars and considered a milestone in classical cinema, All About Eve brings together Bette Davis and Anne Baxter in a drama about rivalry and ambition in the theatre. Margo Channing, a Broadway star facing up to the impact of ageing on her career, meets Eve Harrington, a young, shy, yet winning fan, and takes her under her wing. Outwardly devoted, Eve soon shows herself to be a talented manipulator who uses charm and flattery for professional gain. The film became notable for featuring one of Marilyn Monroe’s first appearances on screen: still new to Hollywood, she plays an uncredited part, shining in some of the group scenes.
