Nebulosa — Free Course on 16mm Film is an initiative by the production company Rua Escura that aims to stimulate cinematic vision and practice through the use of film in the city of Porto and the sharing of experiences by filmmakers André Gil Mata, Cláudia Ribeiro, Frederico Lobo and guest speakers.
This free course is inspired by the spirit of film clubs, opening up to the community as a space for shared learning about the art of filmmaking, drawing on moments in the history of cinema and combining them with a strong practical component, which includes the use of 16mm cameras, sound recording and lighting on film. The programme also includes film screenings and discussions, and the exploration of photochemical techniques.
As part of this course, Batalha will host two film screenings open to the public, with films selected by Rua Escura and presented by guest speakers who, at the end of each screening, will join the audience for a discussion.
