25 Years of Casa da Animação

Batalha marks the 25th anniversary of Casa da Animação, an association founded in 2001 to promote, publicize, and support animated films in Portugal, with a screening of a selection of short films presented that same year, in partnership with the National Film Board of Canada. The screening features works by Martin Barry, Caroline Leaf, Claude Cloutier, Michèle Cournoyer, Jacques Drouin, Ryan Larkin, Norman McLaren, Gayle Thomas, and the duo Wendy Tilby & Amanda Forbis, who explore different animation styles and techniques. These films have left their mark on several generations of filmmakers and exerted a decisive influence on the development and establishment of Portuguese animation.
