The War Game

In pseudo-documentary style, The War Game presents a simulation of a Soviet nuclear missile striking British soil. Its portrayal of a chaotic scenario, including the lack of emergency services and subsequent disruption of the entire social order, caused an outcry amongst the British government that led the BBC to cancel the planned broadcast and only allow the film to be viewed in a restricted number of cinemas. The film was finally broadcast by the BBC twenty years after its originally scheduled slot.
