See You Later Space Island

Somewhere in the Atlantic, See You Later Space Island imagines possible futures from the Azorean island of Santa Maria, where the first European rocket and microsatellite launch centre becomes a reality. An astrophysicist returns to the island to work at an observatory and reunites with Helena, her childhood friend. Between memories and transformed landscapes, both confront the tensions between technological progress and ecological belonging. Mixing speculative fiction and affective realism, the film reflects on friendship, resistance and the cosmic impact of small islands.
