La Durmiente explores the story of the medieval princess D. Beatriz of Portugal (1373-1420) through storytelling and children's imagination. Set in the Monastery of Sancti Spiritus in Toro, Spain, where D. Beatriz is buried, a group of seven children act out and interpret fragments of the life of this character, who has been erased by history but played a key role in the Portuguese dynastic crisis of 1383.
