Programme:
In the isolated countryside of Yorkshire, an orphan boy is taken in by a rural family and finds in Cathy, the youngest daughter, the only ray of light in a hostile daily life. As they grow up, the bond between them transforms into an intense and destructive passion, marked by desire, obsession, and suffering. This adaptation of Emily Brontë’s only novel—published in 1847 under the pseudonym Ellis Bell—emphasizes the power of imagery, adopting a raw, sensory, and silent style. The film won the Best Cinematography Award at the Venice Film Festival.
