Tony Scott’s directorial debut is a hypnotic erotic thriller that brings together David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve, and Susan Sarandon in a dark love triangle between a pair of vampires and a mortal woman. Disturbing, stylish, and sensual, The Hunger explores immortality as an insatiable hunger—a deadly game of desire, power, and the inevitable decay of life. Though it received mixed reviews at the Cannes Film Festival, the film later gained cult status, particularly within the gothic subculture—and is now considered by many to be Scott’s finest work.
