Since the law prohibits them from attending football matches, a group of Iranian girls attempt to enter the Azadi Stadium disguised as boys, in order to watch an important World Cup qualifier. Detained by the authorities, they can only listen to the reactions of the crowd from outside, while trying to find ways to circumvent the police. Winner of the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, this film by Jafar Panahi — a leading Iranian filmmaker whose films have often been banned due to his criticism of the regime — offers an original, if out-of-shot, look at sport, and how the passion it elicits can break down barriers.
