Los barcos [Segmento de Here in Lisbon]

In The Boats, a Chilean actress travels to Lisbon to present a film. Although she only has a supporting role in the work, she’s the only one available to participate in the post-screening Q&A at the Cinematheque—struggling to answer the audience’s questions. The next day, she tries to explore the city, but ends up crossing the river and getting lost with a stranger in an abandoned area. In this segment of the collective film Here in Lisbon—a project commissioned by IndieLisboa to mark the festival’s 10th anniversary—Sotomayor crafts a delicate portrait of disconnection, displacement, and the quiet moments shared between two strangers.
