Lend Me Your Wife

In this satire by Carlmar, Norway's first female filmmaker, the plot begins at a baby products company where the owner only hires married men for management positions. When a new vacancy arises, a young single man finds an ingenious—and disastrous—solution to increase his chances of being chosen: borrowing his best friend's wife. The result is a series of misunderstandings that ironically and lightly denounce social expectations and institutionalised machismo—recurring themes in the filmmaker's work, which humorously explored the contradictions of bourgeois morality in 1950s Norway.
