This documentary about the international football icon Mané Garrincha, a legendary Brazilian player of Indigenous origin, captures his time at Botafogo and playing for Brazil as it won the 1958 and 1962 World Cups. Interweaving memorable games with day-to-day moments — training sessions, pre-game preparations and scenes at home —, the film paints a vivid portrait of this sportsman at the height of his career, a period when his performance on pitch earned him the nickname “alegria do povo” [“joy of the people”].
