L’Aura

Directed by a young French-Senegalese-Malian filmmaker, L’Aura explores the enchantment and magic that permeate a racialised queer environment in the African neighbourhood of La Goutte d’Or in Paris. The story begins with two friends: Antónia tries to convince Cláudia of the presence of supernatural forces, while Cláudia—skeptical but eager for any possible help—lets herself be drawn in. Between subtle humour, improvised rituals, and silent complicity, Sylla reveals how everyday life can open up to the mystical for those who live between multiple belongings and seek new forms of care and guidance.
